Research

I am currently working on developing out my personal research agenda of creating expansive playful frameworks of research and design to better co-design and co-research learning alongside youth stakeholders. Check back soon for more updates!

 

Along with my dissertation, I have also played key roles in a variety of other research projects involving the development of innovative technology and learning activities in science, history, and computer science (CS) education.

Generalized Embodied Modeling - Science through Technology Enhanced Play (GEMSTEP)

Led by Drs. Joshua Danish and Noel Enyedy, this project explores how youth learn science within mixed reality environments by attending to their embodied experiences as they explore science simulations.

Scaffolding Explanations and Epistemic Development for Systems (SEEDS)

Led by learning scientists at Indiana University and Rutgers University, this project explores how elementary students reason about using different types of empirical evidence to create and revise models of complex systems.

Greek History through Games: Cities on the Edge of War

Led by Drs. Joshua Danish and Eric Robinson, this project is a undergraduate history course in the form of a bespoke semester-long strategy roleplaying game which explores the period of the Peloponnesian war in Ancient Greece.

Debugging Failure

Led by Dr. David DeLiema, this project is focused on designing computer science learning environments which foster a culture of productive failure around debugging code through play and arts-based reflection practices.
